Prisma Electronics at the Greek Space Tech Forum | Space and Maritime Connection

Prisma Electronics participated in the Greek Space Tech Forum, contributing to the discussion on "Space & Maritime" through a presentation by the company's Managing Director, Christos Giordamlis. The focus of this contribution was on analysing the emerging prospects and technological challenges from the perspective of the interconnection of space and shipping.
In a country like Greece, a global leader in the global shipping industry, the exploitation of space technology is a critical factor in enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector.
Prisma Electronics, with its extensive experience in manufacturing electronics for space missions, is strategically pursuing this direction. Recently, the company participated in the launch of the DUTHSAT-2 microsatellite in collaboration with the Democritus University of Thrace. The aim of the collaboration was to demonstrate a secure telemetry system and the ability to detect oil spills and deliberate discharges of ship waste (bilgewater) from small satellites.
The next space mission is scheduled for October, with the launch of our own MICE-1 nanosatellite. The aim of the mission is to enhance the monitoring, safety and resilience of Greek shipping, while creating an integrated data ecosystem that will support real-time forecasting, surveillance and operational support for the industry.
In this context, Christos Giordamlis also referred to the Laros system, an integrated system for the collection and analysis of ship data, which is already operating on ships of Greek and international shipping companies. This system contributes to the optimisation of their operation, the reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as the enhancement of safety.
As he noted, respect for people, the environment and transport safety is no longer a luxury, but a necessity, while creating significant opportunities for innovation, both at a technological and strategic level.
Prisma Electronics is committed to investing in cutting-edge solutions that promote shipping and maritime safety, thereby contributing to Greece's emergence as a prominent centre of innovation in the space and maritime sectors.
