Prisma Electronics releases its new app «Heraklion, a journey into history... at every step» presenting an electronic exploration of Heraklion’s Old Town. The product allows visitors to explore one of Crete’s most picturesque cities using a combination of augmented reality and 3-D technology, synthesized into 3 applications. Users are able to experience the sites, sounds and lifestyle of the past, layered upon the present, as they chart a course through the historic sites, museums, and monuments of this magical and modern city.

The app provides rich visuals and acoustic accompaniment to each area, and visitors can choose, depending upon time allotment and personal interest, ‘live’ tours through the era of the Venetian Regno di Candia until its fall to the Ottoman Empire. «Heraklion, a journey into history... at every step» was implemented under the European Union’s 2007-2013 development framework program for Crete and the Aegean Islands, and financed by the European Peripheral Development Fund.
